Where Funds Go
Proceeds from the Florida Wildflower Tag help protect and preserve Florida’s native environment. Your purchase provides a contribution to further the beautification of our state's public places with Florida's wildflowers. Funds from the sale of the tag are managed by the Florida Wildflower Foundation, a not-for-profit organization and are used for the following:
- Native wildflower research programs
- Wildflower educational programs
- Wildflower grant programs to state, municipal, county, and community based groups within the state.
To make herbaceous natives more available as reliable and healthy planting stock -- either as seed or ready-to-go plants -- there is much to learn about the cultivation requirements of particular native wildflowers. Also clearly needed is a gathering of expertise on selecting Florida wildflowers that would be both beautiful and best suited for cultivated landscapes, particularly for sites such as roadsides, urban medians, and public-building grounds.
In order to boost sales of the Wildflower Tag, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) ), Division of Marketing and Development has completed an in-depth market study and is developing a multimedia campaign to promote and educate Florida residents on the benefits of the tag. Future projects include a television and print educational campaign.
